Dr. Johannes Buehler (1940-2012) studied Mechanical Engineering at ETH Zurich between 1960 and 1964. After his diploma, he worked in Poland and Sweden, before he went to UC Berkley for a PhD study. He came back to ETH Zurich in 1975 as a researcher and stayed until his retirement in 2005. He remained an active member of the research group "Groundwater and Hydromechanics" until the last days of his life.
