In order to be able to increase particle densities in Particle tracking velocimetry a scanning method is applied In this method the observation volume is not looked at in its entirety at the same time but is scanned with a light sheet which makes only visible one slice at a particular moment. Preliminary estimates show that the method is feasible. A high speed camera is taking split pictures of different views. An application case is entrainment were particles move slowly in one region of the fluid taking off with high speed once they are entrained, and vice versa.
